In an era where the fate of the world can rest on a children’s card game, or an entire culture can be structured around exaggerated marble-launchers, there was Beyblade. The spinning top has been a toy to generations for hundreds of years, simple in construct but memorizing to a child’s eyes in it’s rotation. It was only a matter of time before someone saw fit to expand and capitalize on this idea, marketing the tops as harbingers of destruction which could easily shred and bash their way through each other to the amusement of children. Beyblade was by no means the first to act on this concept but is by all accounts the most successful.
